How to improve audio and video quality in Kodi

I wanted to ask this though I'm pretty sure the answer is 'yes'. Kodi has a BUFFER, right? I don't mean that big buffer you can set in advancesettings.xml, but a basic ammount of data from the storage medium, be they local drives, flash memory, optical, or network shares, is buffered and stored before decoding in FFMPEG, right? Like enough that any concerns from packets needing to be resent or a momentary blip of lag from the switch cause no issue, that would render any concerns about the 'quality' of the data getting to the program being irrelevant unless you suffer major issues accessing your storage medium?

Not sure about the buffer bit - I'm guessing that most stuff is effectively streamed, albeit locally, so there's no resend opportunity and the nature of digital means a binary 'it worked/no it didn't'.

However, it seems that Sony understands the need for quality components as much as the ethernet-and-interconnect crew:

arstechnica is less... erm... "objective":

With all the Edward Snowden revelations about NSA spying can any of you guys recommend a quality distributor of fabricated Faraday Cages ?

I just don't want NSA intrusions ruining my Kodi experience with missing bits and bytes disappearing into the never never. Maybe that Poofyhairedguy has some recommendations up his sleeve he has been keeping from us ?

I really need this cage in a hurry as its summer here in the land down under and my Tin Foil Hat is getting a bit too hot to wear daily.
