msgstr not working in english translation?
#1
I'm really confused is the english po file ignoring the msgstr? Can't get it to show up.

For e.g. this always shows up as "RateHeading"

msgctxt "#1313"
msgid "RateHeading"
msgstr "What Did You Think?"

edit: didn't mean to post this two times...

That's how it's supposed to work. For the 'master' language (English) msgid should be the English text and msgstr should be empty. The message text is the ID. The format is modeled after gettext (but never completed. that's why you need that special msgctxt. and no plural support yet)

I have no idea what's the problem with this format, but anyway you can always download a format you request from Transifex directly:

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/xbm...nguage/en/

Link to the main English file:
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/xbm...d/for_use/
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

Thanks, but my tests also showed that kodi is ignoring the msgstr in english completely. So it will just use the id anyway.
Doesn't matter if I change it.

Somebody from another mediacenter project that is also doing a trakt plugin mentioned that we could share the keys and would get the same translations (at least suggested)
Wanted to try that.

Indeed. It is already auto-shared between xbmc-main, xbmc-addons and xbmc-skins. On Transifex it is called Translation Memory. I belive you can also manually download and re upload it to another completely separate project. But auto-sharing is only between kodi official repositories.
