Downloading Guide to Remote XMBC computer takes a couple of minutes
#1
On my Kodi server, when I start up Kodi, the guide data is quickly available. A few seconds at most to transfer the guide data for 100 or so channels.

On the XBMC HTPC in our bedroom, wired connection, the download takes a 1-2 minutes. per the prompt at the top of the screen. It doesn't seem like there would be alot of data to transfer so was wondering why this takes so long.
I could be something with my network, but the netwroks spees seems to be ok when I have done tests.

do you have the "store EPG in the database" option set to on or off in Kodi? And is that the same between the remote and local clients? Try reversing it on the client to see if any difference is observerd?

Ian, I have the same setup and my three remote clients aren't noticeably slower than the server for loading data (1-2 minutes is crazy long). However you don't say what the machine is in your bedroom, is it a pi or ?

The machine is a ITX form factor AMD motherboard running Win7. It is not a speed demon but should be competent for the job. I have tried playing around with the Store EPG otpion but did not notice anything different. I also reduce the number of days in the guide to a minimum but still an issue.

I will have to try from anohter one of my computers to see if it is an issue there. Don't haveKodi on those machines though

A Kodi debug log might show if there are a lot of message timeouts with retries etc
