I have a Mini-ITX PC with ASRock QC5000-ITX/PH mainboard (AMD A5-4000 onboard) for Kodi.
Installed is Linux Mint 18 x64 cinnamon with Kodi 16.1
Under System/Audio menu point "passthrough" is missing (not there)
This means I can't get AC3/DTS sound over the Mainboard S/PDIF connector.
(The HiFi equipment is connected over S/PDIF)
If any sound comes over S/PDIF, then just PCM without AC3 or DTS.
It's strange but it works with an "old" Kodibuntu 14 actualized to Kodi 16.1!
(it seems not to be a hardware problem)
The second option, to update Kodubuntu 14 to Ubuntu 16.04 didn't work, because the
remote control won't work anymore after the OS upgrade.
Because there seems to come no new Kodibuntu version in the future I tested Linux Mint 18 x64 cinnamon.
Does anybody have a clue to get it work properly include the "passthrough" menue point?
Or any other options/ combinations Linux with Kodi that is working properly?
