There are several video addons that I sometime use that stream videos that are not live or in real-time. Rather they are typically previously broadcast episodes, such as PBS NOVA, or The Daily Show. And since I only have an ADSL connection (that I also do other work with, such as large data transfers), these video streams continually stop to buffer, or at worst, simply stop receiving.
My idea was that these streams could be downloaded in background, and saved to be watched at a later time, with no stopping to buffer up part of the stream. This is much like a PVR, or, more simply, downloading a complete YouTube video to be watched later. but with already existing video addons as the video source.
I don't know if this idea has been brought up before (didn't see anything when searching), or what it would entail. But, for me, it would allow me to watch these videos without annoying breaks, and maybe even save certain videos for re-viewing.
Just curious, and a bit hopeful.
I'd appreciate some form of reality check on this idea :-).
