I was a computer science major once upon a time before I abandoned it to focus on my business degree. C++/java/etc don't help much with skinning though. Luckily I've done a lot of web design (html/css/php), which helps quite a bit since xml is also a markup language.

Best advice I can give is to spend time studying the other skins that are out there. I started out with simple mods and kept going until I ended up with Mimic.

It can be fun but requires a bit of patience. Good luck!

thanks to both of you for the encouragement.
i have been working on my mod all day. going slow but well so far.

i am comparing how one skin accomplishes a given task to another skin.
right now it is cut and past but the light is twinkling.
