I have Kodi 14.1 (Git 38e4046) as frontend on Ubuntu.
All the keyboard keys work except Pause (space or P) and Record ®.
How can that be fixed ?

Ahhh so we are talking LiveTV? Some controls are overridden for LiveTV, but space should always pause AFAIK, unless you have overridden it yourself.
If something is not working as expected, turn on debug logging, press some buttons on your keyboard/remote and then look in the log.
Also what backend are you using?

Sorry - I forgot to mention that my problems had only to do with LiveTV (pause & record).
I have not defined any keymaps - happy with Kodi default.
I have Tvheadend as backend.
The log showed but still no pause ...
cat kodi.log | grep -i onkey

Excellent, that seems to be what you want doesn't it?

Thanks - I missed that.
I am not sure I understand the option 'On-Demand' with the timeshift buffer on pause.
If I just want to pause (hit space) and then continue to watch (hit pause) from that frame then 'On-Demand' has to be checked ... or ?
