Videos in specific folder won't play anymore
#1
Hello!

I have a weird problem, all of a sudden I can't open videos in the standard Download folder anymore. Videos in other places work fine and I can play the videos when I move them to another folder, but they won't play again when I move them back to the Download folder.

The problem stays when I make a clean reinstallation of XBMC/Kodi and going to recovery mode of OS X and checking the hard drive with disk utility also didn't help, so I am a little out of options.

Did anyone had this problem before and knows a way that might fix this? If so far no fix is known, I will create and upload a log file if you think this might be useful.

Thanks in advance Smile

Open Terminal.app and type in

Code:
ls -ld ~/Downloads

and see what it says.

It seems I was able to fix it myself but seems still a little strange to me. I created a log file I wanted to post here and just looked through it a little myself and noticed a line, by reading it it seems that XBMC had problems handling/maybe looking into a RAR-archive I downloaded the other day. When opening it, the unarchiver gave me a warning, that the RAR-archive is partly corrupted. It was possible to extract some files from it, but not all of them, so it seems that the archive was corrupted from the start and the problem was not an interrupted download, in which cases you can't even open and look into the archive.

The lines in the log file where it complains about the archive and I try to open a video read as this:

Code:

After deleting the RAR-archive now it seems I can open all the video files within the Downloads folder again. So if anyone should run into the same problem, I this will help them too to fix it, still it seems strange to me, that one broken archive can prevent XBMC from opening all the videos in there.

On some version of Kodi this may have also worked.....

Kodi > System > Settings > Appearance > File Lists > Support Browsing into archives > disable
