I'd like to be able to:

1. Press a button to "start" kodi from my remote if its not already running on my Windows PC
2. Add a button to access the Context menu (c on the keyboard) to the remote

Any advice on these?

What IR receiver are you using? This would all be super easy with a flirc.

If your IR receiver accepts Windows Media Center Keyboard inputs then this is fairly easy. I have the yellow button on my 650 remote mapped to launch kodi and the menu button mapped to open the context menu.
