DVD / ISO files not playing
#1
Hi All
My apologies if this is not in the right forum!

Couple of questions;

I recently switched my source from SMB to NFS from my Synology NAS to my NUC 2820 with the latest Gotham version.
I understand there is supposed to be a speed benefit by using NFS? some of my mkv movie files are a good 40GB or so, but not really seen a big increase in speed / playability.

Secondly;
I have a number of DVD rips tv series;
These are currently in folders such as Civilization (disc 1) > Video_TS & Audio, 2 folders.
Yet in the TV series section, I can see Civilization but nothing is in there.

How can I fix this? either to show per episode or to play the whole dvd including menu?

Thanks in advance.

I use NFS on a gigabit network inside here and have no issues with large files at all. Running FreeNAS and linux boxes all over though. Hate Windows! Smile

you could always rip the DVD to mkv, I have had the same issue with DVD's. Try scan recursively ?? Blu-rays work fine though.

Thanks Freebs, yeah havent seen much difference between smb and nfs yet, my little box still plays everything almost instantanioulsy. I'm thinking of getting a rasberry pi 2 at some point and to use upstair, presume as having a lot less grunt than my Nuc, using NFS will help a little with the networking overheads? Will have to see.

I have about 20-30 dvds that have been ripped to the video/audio folder so yeah could move this to a MKP format I guess though rather not spend my time doing that. I found the following:

So gonna tyr their suggestions about Combine split video items, will report back if this works.

thanks for response!

still not working, tried to follow the details in the link provided above but still not working.
AGH!
takes about 25 mins per episode to rip to an mkv, tho probably in the end I may have to end up doing this.
Surely there is another solution?
