Audio stuttering when playing mp3s [OpenElec]
#1
I've been having a problem with recent OpenElec distros where audio stutters when playing MP3s. Videos are fine, but MP3s stutter a lot, even with a relatively low CPU. Here's my dmesg output.

Edit: And here's the kodi.log with debug enabled:

Any ideas or other debugging I can do?

What about posting a kodi Debug Log? Your kernel log is useless.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Here's the debug. Restarted Kodi, started song, stuttering occurred. Stopped song.

Let me know what other debug I can provide.

Not a Debug Log

Upgrade to OpenELEC 5.0.5 and post another log.

Will upgrade, but in the meantime, not sure what I'm missing from my log? I enabled debug as described in the link you posted, and I can see DEBUG messages in the log. Any tips?

Here's another debug log running on 5.0.5 - song stutters throughout. If there is some additional debugging that you want enabled that the guide linked above does not describe how to enable, please let me know.

You say mp3s in the title, it seems to only happen to this very Album, is that correct?

It includes some mjpeg:

Do files without that work?

Actually it happens with any mp3 I play, I just happened to pick this one randomly. Will try on an mp3 in a folder without a cover...

Just tested - all mp3s stutter, even those in folders without Jpegs.

Same from local disk?

Just tested local and it worked great! I've been using SMB or NFS for a few years and the stuttering problem is new as of version 5. It also only happens with mp3s - videos, even big ones, play fine.

Where should I go from here?

First try: NFS please if possible. Does that work?

there are other reports which point to an issue with NFS

The above user uses SMB - therefore I asked.

I basically think we have a VFS issue. Could be easily proofed when using system mounts, which OpenELEC also provides.

Edit: Here is a link on howto use system mounts in OE: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Mounti...mple_mount

Btw. OpenELEC is also special as it ships a bumped SMB 3 version.
