v14 Share with SAMBA as a NAS a mounted USB storage attached with usb cable to Kodibuntu
#1
Hi everyone,
and thanks a lot for your great work!
I have one stupid question.
I would like to share a Huge usb hard drive of 3TB connected with a USB CABLE to Kodibuntu on the SAMBA Protocol (SMB).
When i connect the usb drive to kodibuntu immediately the hard drive in mounted without problem.
From the UI of Kodi i can see and navigate the USB HD.
Now it will be very beautiful if all the network pc can see the attached usb drive and read and write all the data that they want through SMB protocol.
Can someone tell me how?
I'm trying to search a guide but without success!
There is only OPENELEC that have a feature in the menu to "AUTO SHARE AN USB DRIVE ATTACHED".
Thanks a lot to who will help me!

How can i config (Automount something) to give 777 permission to all USB device attached?
Thanks a lot!

I think wsnipex answer has what you are looking for. If you cant write into the Media Folder from your USB you need to change the permissions either via chown or chmod on the Media Folder. If the Media Folder is on the USB and you cant write into it from the network follow his/her steps or try the Samba GUI in Lubuntu/LXDE.

If you want to try with the Samba GUI:

The results should be the same.
