Yes it's really not that hard to get the RPi2 and OpenElec up and running, even for Newbs.

Best bang for the buck for a pure Kodi media box, the wee little RPi2 is at the moment.

If you really want to see good minimal, yet very customisable design of a Skin have a look at Arctic: Zephyr
Runs well on an Overclocked RPi2.
Jurialmonkey is a very skilled talanted skinner.

I take it you have force_turbo=1 set in your config.txt file to really maximise Overclocking on the RPi. ?

arm_freq=1000 (wouldn't boot at 1100)

force_turbo=1

boot_delay=0

i actually bought two Pi2's
one for me and one for my friend
