Pi2 + Openelec and VC-1
#1
Hello. Pi2 + Openelec 5.0.6. VC-1 interlaced video plays with colored artifacts. Also have randomly stutters on some progressive VC-1. The problem is hardware or software? Licenses for codecs purchased and activated. I can put the pieces of the video , tell me where. Thanx.

Just confirming you remove the # symbol that is in front of the decode_WVC1..........in the config.txt file. ?

like....
decode_WVC1=0x41d8e06b

Of course did it.

. Device just not pull 1080 without it )))
Video plays smooth.
Could be wrong , but Openelec 5.0.5 had no problems with a progressive WVC . Too lazy to check Shy . Stuttering not permanent in time and not at all the video. Interlaced vc-1 has colored artifacts always.

Can you provide a sample of a VC-1 file with coloured artifacts?

Or tell where to upload the files.

I see the coloured artifacts - I've forwarded the file to our codec expert.

I didn't see a problem with the progressive sample. It was pretty short without much happening, but seemed smooth enough....

Ah - I get it. With omxplayer enabled it is smooth. With omxplayer disabled it looks like frames are being played out of order...

Nope, not as simple as that. Sometimes MMAL plays it smoothly. Sometimes stuttery.

Strange. I'll look into it.

Looks like it. It makes also flickering like in old movie Smile. But amd graphics with Kodi plays it without any problem.

+1, hope you're doing better. Let me test a concert BD rip with VC-1/1080i (29.970) today and report back. When I last tested 1080p/23.976, it played fine. I have VC-1 h/w decode codec purchased and in my config.txt.

Thanks! I've just sent Dom a patch to fix the problem with interlaced playback; now looking at progressive streams.

This should now be fixed with latest firmware. Latest firmware is included in latest Milhouse build, or you can manually download from firmware repo.

Ooh - so VC-1 interlaced content is supported. That's better than Intel can do in Linux (where you have to use software decoding). (And 50i VC-1 is not that unusual on TV Blu-ray releases)

Thanks again for all your work on the Pi / Pi 2.
