Win Repeating Thumnail in Music/Artist
#1
Music
Howdy folks, got a bit of a head-scratcher here. I've used XBMC/Kodi for a while, and have had this issue for a good portion of it. My TV/Movie art and info has never had any issues, but my artist library In music is giving me fits. Relevant computer/Software info:

Kodi version: 14.0 (helix)
Windows version: 7 Home Premium SP1 - all updates installed
CPU: AMD A6 5400K 64bit
RAM: 6gb

See image: http://i.imgur.com/5mjaHN1.png

There is a recurring thumbnail that displays for random artists in the list. It has changed (used to be the white stripes cover, then it was something else, now it's the album art for Death Row greatest hits). A week ago or so, I followed some steps I found to clear thumnail cache, but the issue still persists. I went through to all of the ones displaying the incorrect art, and changed them to use remote thumbnails instead of the local one. A bit of a task, but all was well afterwards. Today, I added a new music folder, went into Kodi, and did an "update library". It took a while, and now the same issue is back - all the artists I clicked and chose to use remote thumnail have all reverted back to local.

In the past, i've also tried finding the specific thumbail that repeats and deleting it, but it just makes it change to a different (equally random) thumnail instead.

I'd love to get it fixed properly, but barring that - i'd settle for forcing it to use the remote thumbnail instead of the local one by default.

Any/all help is greatly appreciated Smile

make sure you don't have a folder.jpg sitting in the root of your Music directory.

Hi Helta - no folder.jpg in the root music folder. I have 8 folder.jpg files in subdirectories in my music folder, but none of them are the repeating one Sad

have you exported/imported your library in the past using separate files?

Not quite sure what you mean by export/import, so I would say no ... but i have (as a troubleshooting step) removed my music source in Kodi and re-added it and let it scan/scrape. Same issue afterwards.

well truthfully we need a debug log of you scanning in your library to see what is tripping it up.

No worries - give me a few mins and i'll get a fresh scan. I'll start debug, close/re-open, delete source, close/re-open, re-add source.

Ok, the scrape took about an hour and a half, but here ya go: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43191398/kodi.log (had to upload as text file to my dropbox - too big for pastebin)

For reference, here is an image showing Artists after scrape (first page): http://i.imgur.com/FpvVagN.jpg

Let me know what else I can do to test Smile

Something else odd that I noticed (may or may not be relevant) - I clicked one of the artists on the first page (311), and went to artist info, then update thumb. The thumbnail that displays on the artist page and the thumb that displays as "current thumb" are completely different: http://i.imgur.com/stmfEIM.jpg

That's slightly new since the last time I deleted/re-scraped. Before the incorrect thumb showed in this screen.

Bump - i've looked through the log and can't find any relevant info ... but then again, I have no idea what i'm looking at Smile

I believe the issue you are having is common (at least in my experience). What happens is, the Artists you are looking at doesn't have a picture, and Kodi seems to pull a random picture (from other artists) to fill it in. I find this usually happens when you are scrolling through artists, and the current artist has a picture, but the next doesn't, yet when you click on it, you get a different picture (and it seems to stick there until you exit out of the artists view).

One thing I did to fix my library, was to scrap every artist (album, etc), using MediaElch (since it now supports Music as well as TV and Movies). Give it a try, it might clean up your issues.

As helta said, I've also found this happens if you have a Various Artists folder with compilations under it, but in the root of Various Artists you have folder.jpg, poster.jpg or even fanart.jpg.

Hi powerhouse - I do have a various artists folder, but no jpg files in it at all (root or otherwise). I searched my entire music folder for *.jpg and didn't even see the image that's repeating, although I did find quite a few others. I checked their sources, and none of them are in root folders Sad

Bump - still no success in figuring out what's causing this. I did find the repeating thumbnail in my thumbnail cache folders, but deleting these and letting Kodi re-scrape hasn't had any effect in the past.
