Is there software or hardware or a combination of solutions that can accomplish this functionality:
Input: Metronet Fiber IPTV (local paid TV service) CAT 5e cable
Output: Watch TV, Channel Guide, Time-shifting, TV Recording
Current set up:
Metronet Fiber IPTV: Wall Jack -> CAT5e cable -> Metronet DVR (free for 6 months, then $16/mo) - > hdmi -> receiver
HTPC: ASUS Chromebox (Openelec 5.0.6/Kodi 14.2) -> hdmi -> receiver
Receiver: Receiver -> hdmi -> TV
What solutions exist to replace my temporary device in red above?
Can an ASUS Chromebox replace a local tv provider dvr? If so, what software do I need?
HDHomeRun does not seem to sell hardware that does this. Does anyone know of hardware that takes a cat 5e input?
Does someone with more experienced know of a solution? Service Providers will switch to IPTV over ethernet which will render old coaxial hardware useless. Any help is appreciated!
