Hey, All....I'm just looking for somewhere to start reading because most of this stuff is over my head. It's just all so confusing.
At this point I'm just trying to get some live TV. I haven't been able to do that yet. I bought a Fire TV today and went through all the install. I went on youtube and found some directions for live tv channels. I finally got a list of channels but none of them do anything. I'm lost...I'm trying to use a PVR client add-on (whatever that means) - PVR IPTV Simple Client. Seems like I'm so close as it downloads something and I get channel lists...but nothing happens.
UGGGGHHH
Thanks for any guidance.

You're not in the right area. Kodi is not a method for getting free TV from the internet, and the PVR feature is not a feature to get free TV the internet. These are features for either using tuner hardware and actual antennas or something along those lines. Please also read the
forum rules (wiki).

Hmm. Ok, what can I do with it? I read the rules and I'm not looking for pirated stolen stuff (I pay directv $200 a month already), I just want to get something that appears I accomplished something.
Thanks

I've gathered that. Thanks. What are some of the features I can use with it on my fire tv?

watching your legally obtained media, eg ripped DVDs and Blurays. watching youtube and any of the other myriad of addons that are officially supported.

So what makes this better than a DVD, bluray, or computer then? Seems I must be missing something here. Thanks..

Well it runs on a computer (obviously). The advantage is never having to find your disk, having lovely metadata, 10 foot interface, weather and other info services, access to legal online services, all under one user interface.

Ya, that wasn't asked or expected. You went way beyond answering that. Thanks. I did read a little but failed to really grasp what this provides that wasn't already reasonably available. Just seems like the time, effort investment direct provide much return. Sounds like it's more a hobby than truly a benefit of functional return. Maybe I need to really look at what it can do with added features I don't have.
