Thanks for the quick reply. I left both madVR abd XySubFilter in place (in Program Files). XySubfilter is XySubFilter_3.1.0.705_x86_BETA2.

I hope you went to the main forum with your problem. I've never heard of scenario where the player will not launch at all after troubleshooting.

Have you tried using another video renderer such as EVR?

I've opened thread http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=230114 for this issue. Thanks for your suggestions. I haven't tried another renderer yet but will do so right away.

You have to put that post into the DSPlayer forum for help -- the official support thread. Otherwise, no one will answer you.

First, try an older version of madVR (like 10 versions ago). It could be the new madVR is no longer compatible with Kodi Helix DSPlayer.

My first post here and I applaud your efforts to take Kodi video to a new level. I just bumped into the Ezoden instructions on the ultimate HTPC and was a little chagrined that Kodi was not involved, but went ahead anyway: http://www.ezoden.com/htpc/4/how-to-setu...troduction

I've got ffsdhow raw video and audio processor working, madvr, and reclock working with Media Player Classic Home Cinema without too much trouble and it is very nice, I then found this Kodi project and it seems a natural, but I don't think I would have attempted the install if I'd know this did NOT work with streaming content. I've yet to become a normal HTPC extremist and cord cutter because of my love of Dolby True HD and DTS HD, etc., but one can hope that the videophile/audiophile set will get this down (I think Netflix may go Dolby Atmos which would be awesome.) If I can get this working I'll definitely be attempting this with streaming content, partircularly the Navi-X high quality streams. Streaming higher quality video images better than a high end bluray player like Oppo would make my day despite the deficient audio with these streams.

Unfortunately, I've hit the wall with getting the DSPlayer Kodi going and I appear to be choking on the source based on the log file. I am a neophyte, but I don't recall setting up lavsource in the steps and that seems to be the issue (sorry tried mkvsource in this log run..):

I might have fubarred XySubFilter_3.1.0.705_x86_BETA2 install as I installed from my downloads directory and then unistalled. Reinstalled from Programs directory. Not sure that this did anything, but I may have tryed the uninstall from the zipped uninstall batch, so could have done double install from two different locations....

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. ... Just to see if all this installing and configuring has been worth the pain I've been comparing the above smoking MPC Home Cinema setup with the dog breath Kodi DVDplayer video playback. Using the following Dolby True HD demo: http://www.demo-world.eu/download-2d-tra...d_demo.jpg

I'd thought maybe some recent screen video calibration was the cause of my joy (blasted Kodi Ipad display has been crushing my tv and HTPC laptop), but the difference is stunning and I don't know how to describe it. Pretty sure this is mainly madVR taking this from 24 frames to 120hz (x5) and I guess sharpening, but whatever it is, the difference is stunning. The amazing extreme sports video with DSPlayer quality video is visually enthralling as you feel like you are riding along with every acrobatic move, even the glint of the sun is amazing. I guess I've just become a serious videophile in need of another Kodi hit.

Very pleased with this video progress with Kodi, but very displeased that the CD sound is perfect forever crowd is now in denial over DTS HD MA and Dolby True HD. Bluray and HD DVD have been around a while, so I'm amazed at the lack of progress/interest. With the massive speed of 5G on the horizon, etc its time to start upping streaming quality and ensure that these audio formats are the standard. Again any suggestions on the above problem greatly appreciated.

I did try uninstalling XySubFilter from both locations and reinstalled from program files. That did not change a thing. Searched the internet and saw that reinstalling lavfilters might be the solution. That fixed it. I assume that the install order detailed in this thread may be very criticial, so my suggestion is that may need emphasis. I've got other issues to play with right now which I am tackling (monitor set at 120hz, but madvr is only taking to 60hz...), but I should be able to track those down.

I've also hooked this up to my tv (which is probably what got madvr on 60hz). Absolutely smoking with goosebumps watch that dolby sports video on the 61 inch big screen. With normal playdvd mode the drop in quality is shocking. I'll report back in a bit as I will be playing with things a lot in the next few hours.

A 120hz TV will still play content at 60hz. If you enable refresh rate switching in Kodi, your TV will match the content refresh rate. So, if in North America, your TV should switch to 24hz for most content, even if it is actually displaying content at 120hz by repeating each frame 5x (24 x 5 = 120).

1. Regarding the xysubfilter. I asked earlier regarding downloading subtitles and being forced to restart player to get it show downloaded subtitle.
Aracnoz had that working earlier #34 in this thread:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1973237

Am I missing something why it is not working anymore?

Q2: One of my clients are crashing each time I use XySubFilter and try to download subtitles. If I disable it in mediasconfig the internals are working, but how can it be?
I've checked the log and it shows nothing. I have it installed in x86 folder 32bit version and installed as administrator. My other machine are working fine. This one is W8.1 64bit. Any thoughts?

I don't use XySubFilter to download subtitles, so I don't think I would be of much help. You should use MPC and access the XySubFilter control panel from the Windows Taskbar during playback. There are numerous settings to play with in the XySubFilter control panel.

I am very good with math and have know that 120hz tv gets you perfection with 24x5, 240hz=24x10 too! Madvr has been doing a fine job with this. I am pulling back for a few reasons on DSPlayer:
1. It is clobbering the MADvr settings for MPC-HC and annoyling turning off smooth motion playback and changing some other settings. I presume there is a way to fix these, but I've not pursued because of issue 2
2. DVDPlayer does DTS HD audio. The DSPlayer audio codec suggested converts this to DTS.
3. I think for most streaming it won't play, so no super video for those. It did try to play ESPNHD feed on DBTS which must have been some overseas feed as it did not have the all star baseball stuff on. It seemed to play it with terrible buffering. I really feel pretty ignorant with the whole streaming thing, so does the videocodec help with these and wll dsplayer eventually handle these in better fidelity?
4. I am not an HTPC maven wanting the ultimate so for me and my handfuls of HD movie files I can live with windows exploder and double click.
5. I'd love to come back on board and deal with some of the dsplayer eccentricities vs the more established MPC-HC setup I referenced back a few posts, but the lack of DTS HD is a killer. I am also not completely thrilled with the ffdshow raw audio codec as my bastard audiophile friend was to quick to point out that he liked the Kodi DVDPlayer built in codec's sound over it. Of course this was during a video comparison, and by the way the improved Dsplayer type video (done on MPC-HC) annihilates the standard DVDplayer video.

Any way to get DTS HD MA with dsplayer? I'd be really happy if the DVDPlayer's audio capabilities were available. It seems a lot of effort went into that and it may sound better (it definitely sounds a bit different from FFDSHOW raw audio.) I think I am back in for some more video settings torture with madvr if I had the sound with Kodi.

1. Turn off the Kodi madVR gui in DSPlayer settings if you want to keep what you set in the madVR control panel. The Kodi madVR gui overrides the madVR control panel on start-up. I use detailed madVR profiles and turn off the Kodi gui for this reason.

2. Use ReClock as your audio renderer and choose WASAPI Exclusive bitstreaming (as pictured in the guide). This will get you bit-perfect audio bitstreaming. I can bitstream DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD with my system. ReClock is the best audio renderer if you have an A/V receiver.

3. Use the included playercorefactory.xml for streaming video. DVDPlayer is better for this content. Live TV streams with the appropriate backend (e.g. MediaPortal) are supported by DSPlayer. This is covered in Section 1 of the guide.

4. Don't sell yourself short. DSPlayer will work for almost everyone.

5. My advice is to start from scratch and ignore the EZODEN guide. FFDShow is old technology. My guide relies exclusively on LAV Filters, madVR and ReClock. It will give you superior picture quality provided you have a decent GPU.

Start in Section 1 and work your way to the finish when you have time. FFDShow is old school. Be wary of madVR v0.88.17 as DSPlayer support is being added this weekend. Earlier versions of madVR should be fine.

Thanks, but what do you use then and do you have the same problem as me?

Thx very much for the encouragement. I feel myself slipping into the HTPC abyss, nooo..... Did not understand mediaportal, so will that get superior video quality for some streams using DSPlayer (is it worth it?). I saw the madvr profiles so that would take care of that issue. Getting the lavsource errors again!!!!!.... Off to bang my head against that problem

could not shake the lavsource issue so doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of process. Life should be simpler.

Well the reinstall worked, but started getting audio error on both kodi dsplayer and mpc. Put my reclock settings to what works with mpc-hc. Now MPC is normal and I get 32 bit 48k sampling when I hover over ffdshow raw audio tray icon. Kodi is still barfing with the attached..... hosting....
Image

Hopefully forum has shown above. I am not eager to mess with the reclock settings and I presume Kodi is upsampling to 96k. I am doing two channel analog, so I suppose the 6 channel message could be the issue.... I've yet to find any settings that can stop this message. (Could it be that DSPlayer is not for us primitive two channel types, though I think it is pretty normal though to use headphones with an HTPC laptop or my super boss tube two channel big rig.) I am officially stuck. Help!!!
