I was using kodi 14.1 and for some reason it stopped getting any art for new content. I tried the various things i found searching online deleting textures13, using different scrapers etc and nothing helped.
I uninstalled kodi using revo uninstall pro , ran ccleaner and restarted then installed the newest kodi 14.2 and it is also refusing to get any art at all. Scraped some of my content as a test and got the right information but no art, tried various scrapers, various skins, double checked it wasnt something stupid like firewall problems and have ran artwork downloader with various settings. Artwork downloader claimed to download a few hundred images and had a list of about 30 failed items, however the "succesful" images still arent there. After searching various locations I found hundres of jpgs in Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\script.artwork.downloader\temp but every single one of them is damaged and unusable.

Any help will be appreciated

Turns out im having issues with that too. tried to upload logs multiple times over the last few hours but none have come through, checked my email account is typed correctly and made sure it wasnt sent to junk folder.

Also I did get an error when refreshing the information for breaking bad which ive never got before

The is a python error with: script.grab.fanart
Can you remove this add on from Kodi
Settings>addon>enabled addons>services>Grab fanart> uninstall
Then go back to start of get addons from Kodi repo and "C> context menu force refresh and install addon

Unfortunately that didnt work. here is another log which inlcudes me following your steps. Can you temporarily disable addon: xbmb3c too many errors in your log file.
Are you running any proxy in KODI?

win+r: %appdata%\Kodi\

Can you backup and replace: script.artwork.downloader & script.grab.fanart (unzip and copy/paste these in there)

Can you also nav to: win+r: C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\system & backup/replace these two: DLL files

Please repost debug file again after.

I am using a vpn but its never been a problem with previous versions of kodi and xbmc, but just to rule it out ive tried both with it and with just my normal unprotected connection I get exactly the same problems

I uninstalled the media browser add on as it wasnt something I ever needed .
with the files replaced artwork downloader did download some logos,character art and clear art but still no banners,posters,episode thumbs etc.

You will need to config the addon for artwork required, have a look at the last run log info from the addon to see what exactly has been downloaded and then if required run the addon again to fetch additional artwork.

If you post further debugs we can see what it gets/or if it get those missing artworks.

It is already configured to download everything for both movies and tvshows, also the log from its last run is random
all shows are missing banners,posters,fanart, season banners/posters etc
some shows succesfully got logos but failed on clearart whereas other shows are the exact opposite.
plus some shows dont show up at all in the list as either succesful or failed.
also I again looked in the Kodi\userdata\addon_data\script.artwork.downloader\temp folder and it again had a couple of hundred 0byte damaged jpgs

Can u run KODI in -p switch portable mode: http://kodi.wiki/view/Windows_FAQ#Portable_mode
Close and then copy from your userdata: guisettings.xml, sources.xml, profiles.xml, database folder and the whole addon folder to the KODI home instal folder on C:
Run KODI/addon to see if you have an issue


Before doing any of this please back up any and all files before they are overwritten (you may not be able to revert without these backups)

Update:This is embarrassing and I feel kind of bad for wasting your time but it turns out it was the vpn afterall.
I really didnt think that was to blame as ive been using a vpn from before I first got xbmc so multiple xbmc and a few variations of kodi have worked perfectly. Which I dont understand why suddenly it semi-stopped if the vpn is preventing kodi connecting to the internet why has all the infomation scraped fine aswell as some artwork?

As I mentioned before I have tried without vpn running before but out of desperation ive been retrying everything mentioned so far and this time I disabled vpn client, completely uninstalled the tap driver, enabled IPv6 on my network, restarted my pc and voila. Its still not perfect and it does fail on a fair bit but it downloads id guess around 90% of what its supposed to now ( certainly enough to do me).

Is this a common occurrence for vpns to affect it, if so since you've been most helpful so far may I ask if there is a fix for this?

This may just be down to the timeout on particular vpn when reaching API of fanart.tv or tvdb (is known to occur as the scraper site do change the request limits now and again).

Dunno if is a fix, more of a work around, but if you have the ability to, disable vpn temporarily whilst scraping.
