Linux CuBox-i / imx6 : 1px of incorrect colors around video
#1
When I play SD or 720p content on my CuBox-i, the colors along the edges of the image are often incorrect. These wrong colors are not static; they change as objects in the video move. It's as if a 1px border has been overlaid on the video, where the displayed pixels are in some places lighter and in some places darker than they should be.

Here's a screen shot. Look carefully at the bottom, left, and top edges. It might help to use a good image viewer program in full-screen mode instead of a web browser.

I haven't noticed this defect on 1080p content yet, perhaps because it's not present, or perhaps just because it's harder to see in that case.

This defect is visible on multiple displays. It is not visible when I play the same content with vlc or Kodi on my desktop, or with Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 2. Maybe it's a problem in the imx6 video hardware, or the way Kodi is using it? My CuBox-i is running OpenELEC 5.0.6.

Retry with 5.0.8 - the upstream render changes were ported to oe 5.0.x - the old version (IMX wise) is obsolete and won't be supported anymore. You can also try my current wip build: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5572...evert1.tar which has some options to reduce gui rendering when video is playing.

Btw. This new version needs to have 32bpp and consoleblank=0 set - so when you have performance issue, also post your /flash/uEnv.txt
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks. That build (assuming it's the same one you emailed me) seems to fix the problem. I'll speak up if it shows up again.
