I'm having a strange problem.

I have a RPi connected to a wired internet connection, static IP, i can ping it from other machines and SSH to it.

If I start Kodi, when the initialization sequence finishes and the main menu is displayed, I can no longer ping the raspberry pi and any SSH connections are dropped.

Any input from the keyboard or mouse does nothing.

The ticker at the bottom of the confluence screen still moves, but the only way to get out of this is to restart the PI

Any ideas on what to try?

Are you running OpenElec, Raspbmc, OSMC, Raspbian, Arch Linux or something else?

Sounds like a configuration problem, which might show up in some of the logs.
another possibility is the old insufficient power to meet demands, so devices just get dropped.

Wow. I had seen some things about RPis being temperamental with not enough current, but that was it. I thought I was using a new iPhone power cube but it was actually a crappy knockoff. Different PSU and everything is fine.
