Friend of mine gave me his old Apple TV Version 1 that he just had sitting on a shelf not being used. He lost of the remote for it and has not idea what version it is on.
From reading the manuals I know I need to be on at least version ATV OS 3.0.2 or hired in order to flash the HDMI controller firmware and to install a Linux-based OS, also need to change the original ATV OS settings to "RGB High" in the AV settings.
My question, with out the remote and without having to buy a new remote how can I check the version that it is on? I was hoping just to use the android app to control it later on
Everything that I have read so far is that I could use an iPhone app but that requires you having the Apple TV connected to your iTunes home share before hand. Since this is new to me that hasn't been done.
Thoughts?
Thanks
Pat
