Seeing this old thread, I nevertheless want to say anything:
-china blocks google, so inside china, you cannot use google pages or services. chinese phones cannot access google play.
-there is a wide price range for the boxes. this is because there are big differences in hardware. the newest boxes have 2GB RAM and 8GB flash, a 8-core GPU and the S812 AMlogic chipset. These boxes are 2x or 3x faster then the old boxes. You see this especially with HD videos.
Of course you have to pay more for better hardware.
In my opinion 2 or 3 y.o. boxes were too slow. The new boxes have reached a level where its really fun and useful to work with them.
