Linux Kodi Rights for a Concept distribution
#1
Hello,

My name is Broise Florent, a customer from Grenoble in France, I've got a project to develop a concept of a media center device for high fidelity audio enthusiast.

I want to develop this project on a linux base with an XBMC or Kodi modified software, and so to know if I can (and will be legal regards to the organisation) to sell my concept device to customers.
No system like this exist, accessible to some people who need it in Ultra hight quality audio restitution with very specific hardware behind..

Beside, I will maybe depose an assenbly brand on this project in France, if the concept gain more demands.
The project itself is a custom High-end HTPC machine, containing some very specific Hi-fi parts, made by my own, with the future eventually software based on XBMC/Kodi, eventually supported by Linux included.

I'm already re-coding some stuff in the software and the linux, and the HTPC is almost done. My questions is really about The Rights of an eventually low grade local distribution

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Best regards

You might wanna take a look here for inspiration: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/elec...iet/1.html (Electrocompaniet ECM2). On that note, Electrocompaniet seems to have modified Kodi (actually XBMC in this case) to support Wimp/Tidal. It would be interesting to have this included in Kodi upstream.

.. and just in case, since many get this wrong. GPL requires that you distribute the *source*, no matter how small your modifications are.

which makes we wonder where the Electrocompaniet source is. A quick search didn't turn anything up
