I've got my skin setup to allow users to select the text color from a dialog. This works well for standard labels, but Label2 and Edit controls do not show up when using a variable.

Example: <textcolor>$VAR[foo]</textcolor>

A workaround was posted last year, but I'm not looking forward to manually editing all of the Label2 and Edit controls. See http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=203327

Any chance this can be added to the skinning engine?

A bit late to the party .. is this still an issue with current master?

Thanks mkortstiege, I saw your posts in the other thread and added a skin setting for users to change the text color. The variables all appear to be working, will continue testing. Cheers!
