Hi there
I'm just setting up the chrome box to run kodi for a family member . He wishes to connect it to his amp that only had optical in no hdmi.
I've seen that the turtle beach adapter is recommended. Is this a simple plug in to USB port and away he goes ? Or is there something more technical I need to look at .
He currently runs kodi through an old Apple TV 1 box which has the optical out.

yes, it's plug/play for most OS (including Windows and OpenELEC)

It works under ChromeOS too - using it right now with Tidal.

Thanks Marcus , going to get one ordered . Quite expensive in the uk but seem the only option as he likes his surround sound but won't buy a new hdmi amp
