Change settings folder didn't work, whats wrong?
#1
Hi.
I've got some problems with very very limited storage space on my tv (200mb just isn't enough for kodi Big Grin)

I've tried changing the settings folder to a USB drive to stop kodi from filling up my tv's storage (it happens in no time), but it doesn't work.

First thing i did was creating the file in this folder; http://i.imgur.com/t7zJ35h.jpg
You can see my different storage options on the right, there are two USB drives connected to the tv. One of which I would like to use to store kodi data.

Then i wrote this in the file; http://i.imgur.com/BuTOKPo.jpg
I am not sure if the directories are correct. (I did create a folder on the USB drive called "kodi_data" first")

As you can see from the first picture, the USB drive looks like it is; usb.E62D-B885

But when i am IN kodi, the directory looks like this; http://i.imgur.com/N37U8Yl.jpg
I tried writing the directory in the file in both ways, but none of them worked.

After creating the file, i cleared all cache and data from kodi so that it starts "fresh"

I am totally lost here. I really hope you can help me.

Best regards Christian Vinther

The xbmc.data path should be "/mnt/media/usb.../kodi_data", as shown on the kodi pic.
This is where you usb drives are mounted on your system.

debug log (wiki) with "/mnt/media..." + content of "/sdcard/xbmc_env.properties", please.

When i use the "/mnt/media/usb.8E2A-B26C/kodi_data" and start kodi, it seems like it is about to start, the screen that says that kodi is preparing for first run etc. are there, but just after that, the screen goes black, and kodi closes. I have no idea what is wrong.

I can then see in my normal android folder on the tv's internal memory that kodi has created the org.xbmc.kodi folder with everything in, but nothing is created in the kodi_data folder on my usb drive..

There aren't any log to be found. Kodi doesn't create anything but the folder org.xbmc.kodi in my android folder, because i won't even start up properly.

Nothing in /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/ (be sure to show hidden folders)?
What happening when you try to open Kodi, then?

No nothing there. If i delete the xbmc_env.properties file, and start kodi, it works. But only for a short period until my tv's memory is full. If I do that, i can see all of the files in the org.xbmc.kodi folder. But since kodi aren't starting correctly it doesn't create anything in there.

When i start kodi, the screen which indicates that kodi is starting for the first time appears. (the loading bar in the bottom finishes) and then the screen turns black, after about 2-5 seconds, kodi crashes. (crashes or shutdown)

Ok. And what are the symptoms with the .properties files?
Please paste the content of xbmc_env.properties with "/mnt...", just to be sure.

Can anybody see where it goes wrong??

Nope, can't see. The usb-... value is different in your xbmc_env.properties, but I assume it's only because the value changes at each reboot/mount?
A logcat (wiki) might bring more info.
