KODI Not working
#1
Hi All,

I upgraded from XBMC 13.2 (gotham - I think) to KODI 14.2 on saturday. When I did this I ran into some sort of conflict and was getting the "KODI Not working" Message prior to the Flash start up page.

As it was a while since I had done a system clean , I re installed Win 7 Professional Edition (64bit) I thought that doing this would solve the problem so after reinstalling everything, I did another install of KODI 14.2 using a fresh download and did the complete install. Now I get the flash page with the KODI logo, then the same message - "KODI Not working"

I thought using the latest alpha build might help, so I unstalled 14.2 Helix and installed 15.0 Isengard. Same problem!

I have found the latest Crash log and uploaded here -

Thanks for any help you can provide
Dave

Your crash log isn't a proper debug log and suffice to say, not enough in it to really pin the issue down. You can set up your debug log in advanced settings, but from the trials you've already done (multiple installs of various versions), it might be quicker to just clean out your roaming folder which are common to all the installs.

Delete or rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi
Delete or rename C:\Users\your_user_name_goes_here\AppData\Roaming\Kodi

Install Kodi 4.2 stable and let's see if it runs on your hardware. (if you have a joystick pull it out)

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, so I uninstalled isingard and checked both of those folder locations, neither existed as they were deleted when i did the uninstall. I then checked the regedit and could see no instance of KODI or XBMC in the registry. Bearing that in mind, I then though I should be good to do a re install of helix. did and have still got the same problem.

If I am unable to run the application, can you please advise how I get into advanced settings to setup a debug log?

Thanks again.

Very unusual, on the order of a black hole paradox. This is the first case I've heard that Kodi doesn't run on a system similiar to mine on a fresh install and even more strange given that at one time it used to run on this equipment. Very strange indeed, I would have to suggest something other than Kodi is a fault, but given that you have installed a fresh O/S, I'm at a loss for words.

Just out of curiosity, how did you UN-install Kodi..I'm thinking that perhaps something was left behind and you need to manually delete, but again you mentioned no sign of the folders. (specifically the roaming folder).

You can set-up the log file with the help of these wiki's http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy and http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Advanced#...ttings.xml these will help get to the bottom of this problem (gulp, I hope). Post to http://xbmclogs.com/ and put the link to it in this thread.

Joystick? I don't have a joystick. Hmm? I have a USB hub used for various things, including charging PS3 controllers? Let me take these out and see if that helps.

It worked!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for your help!

What the explanation behind a USB hub with PS3 remotes charging stopping the app from loading? just out of interest.

Check if "Enable joystick and gamepad support" is enabled in "Settings -> System -> Input Devices" and if it is then try disabling and re-connecting your usb hub.
