I'm posting this here as the issue has been discussed in several threads in the OS Independent section but it appears to be a Windows-only bug

The problem is that images with widths that are not divisible by 8 display with a coloured stripe down the right-hand side. Images with widths that are a multiple of 8 display fine.

The bug has been reported to trac here:

This problem has existed since Gotham and is still present in the latest Isengard alpha. It would be great to see it fixed as for me it renders Kodi completely unsuitable as a picture viewer.

+1 for this - it's a nasty little bug and it would be so awesome if it were gone. I have looked at this code area and it's a little too low level for me unfortunately, but I suspect someone with the right knowledge could knock off this long standing issue quite quickly.

Agreed. Over in the OS independent section, there's this post by fritsch with a suggested patch to make the added junk pixels black which would be a huge improvement over the current situation:

Unfortunately I know nothing about code or if this can even be applied to the Windows build.

Can you try to reproduce an issue with DirectX11 version http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=218274? This version has reworked picture "viewer". If you confirm what it was fixed, I'll prepare patch to 15 version.

You beat me to it. I just came to post that the bug is fixed in the DX11 build.

Many, many thanks for fixing this long-standing bug. I look forward to having pictures working again in a future build.
