#1
Hi im running Ubuntu 15.4 and having issues starting kodi.
My system is a intel core i3 4130 with 8 gb ddr3

I have added a new user named 'kodi' added the startup script in /etc/init/kodi.conf
But on reboot, i just see a screens saying:
Ubuntu 15.04 tty1

Can someone explain how to fix this?

I did the following things:
Following step 1 on:
http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Autostart_XBMC_for_Linux

Or installtions steps on:

ubuntu 15.04 switched to systemd, so the wiki instructions do not apply anymore.

No idea - why not doing it? You are free to contribute ... demanding stuff was in the prior 2.0 world
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

haha, good call and so damn right! I just got my feet wet with systemd but I will give it a try and provide a recipe once I'm happy with it :-)

If you can get back to the Ubuntu desktop, the easiest way is to search for "startup" from the start menu. Add an entry with Command: kodi (or kodi --standalone) to the startup applications and you're done. If you aren't happy with that, you can obviously still mess around with a .service script.

Can confirm, this worked, but only when combined with changing your user account. When you first installed Ubuntu, it asked if you wanted require username and password. If you said yes, then you need to go to System Settings->System->User Accounts-><username> and make sure it's set to automatically log in.
