I just noticed, that playback of a videofile is not possible if there is also a password secured "*.rar" file in the same directory.
Is this a bug?

No bug, I don’t think it is supported at all.

The code that handles rar iirc hasn’t been touched in zillion years

@ironic_monkey should know the definitive answer though.

I expected at least an error msg or something - just not playing was a bit frustrating. I upgraded from gotham to kodi because i had no idea what was wrong. And the error log wasnt usefull at all.

And why does XBMC try to access a completly unrelated rar file?

Like I said, that code hasnt been touched in a very very long time, you talking many years here, there's no one even maintaining that code. The one person that probably could will accuse themselves if they choose.
