hi , every time i watch video in kodi the picture doesn't fit my tv screen , i have black panels top and bottom 9 i am using a laptop and hdmi cable to get the pic on TV. when i bring up the picture icons with the mouse the click on the "eye " my picture size is set at ' normal " i then change it to 4:3 which is exact, but as soon as i change channel or switch off then back on its back at normal . how can i set 4:3 as the default screen size ?

Your tv is 4:3? I have never heard of a 4:3 tv with HDMI in.
What resolution is kodi running at?

More likely then having a 4:3 TV with HDMI, maybe you have some options set wrong on the TV for picture size or it is getting bad EDID info and defaulting to a 4:3 resolution.
What is the make and model of the TV?
