I am using a QNAP NAS's capacities to pipe KODI via HDMI into my monitor. Unfortunately, the QNAP Qremote pales in comparison to the dedicated iphone app where controlling KODI is concerned.
I run kodi on the desktop MAC and it works well with the remote. So, I figured that I could transfer similar settings to the QNAP instance and also use the remote app. Not so.
What happens is that when I attempt to "Allow programs on this system to control kodi", I get the error:
remote communication server
failed to start
I have attempted to change the port for the web connection in the kodi setup from 9090 to 9091 to 9096, etc. This seems to make little difference.
I've tried enabling / disabling airplay and zeroconf (which I understand actually must be enabled). Any ideas? Logs I can check?
