stop video library auto-scanning for new shows/movies?
#1
Every now and then Kodi will automatically initiate a video library update, unprompted from me. Is there any way to make it not do that?

Not that I know of...is that an addon? I don't see it anywhere in my addons list, at any rate.

Yeah its an addon, the only two ways for library to automatically update itself.

Rename the addon folder to .old, boot up KODI and see if issues persist.
KODI will re-create a new instance of folder albeit blank.

If issue doesn't come back its an addon and you can revert back to the backup.old you have and remove the offending addon

or we could look at the debug log (wiki).

Fair point Ned--I thought that might be hard for me to do, because it's quite intermittent and doesn't occur for hours and hours...and of course unless I'm staring at the screen, it's impossible to know when it's occurred Smile Anyway, it just did in fact do an update, so I'll post the log in its entirety in the next post. I think it might be too large for pastebin, so I'll find an alternative way to do it. For now, I've found the relevant section where the video library update started...I'll just post that here for now:

The log was too large for pastebin, so I'll just dropbox it:

From looking at the log, I think one of your add-ons, one that we can't talk about, integrates with the local library. In order to do that it triggers the library updates every so often. It might even be doing this even if you have not enabled the local library integration. I can't tell which one it is from the log, but several of them are running as services in the background, and that seems like the most likely culprit.

I was afraid of that (and thank you for your diplomatic response, I appreciate it). That gives me enough to go on...I'll do the requisite sleuthing and will get it resolved. Cheers!

Oh, one quick question--how might I tell, in the log, which ones are running as services in the background? Is there a keyword I can search for, or some kind of trigger phrase in the log that indicates that?

EDIT: Never mind, I think I figured out the issue. Had to do with an addon setting. Fixed! Thanks.
