Why do only some of the thumbs for my music and videos show when browsing in "files" mode, but some don't show at all?

Perhaps they're named folder.jpg instead of poster,jpg?

Ah!
I keep each album in its own folder. I compared some where the thumbs were showing, and some which were not. I changed "front.jpg" to "cover.jpg" and it showed in files view.

Is there some info / advice about file structure and thumb naming etc for Kodi?

Strange I would have thought poster.jpg was the trick. artwork (wiki) saving or exporting your meta-data to separate files will save the posters and fanart properly to the video folder (as Movie-poster.jpg and Movie-fanart.jpg) but why pour over the tediousness of this when Add-on:Artwork Downloader (wiki) does it all for you?
