With windows 10 coming out and microsoft removing media center, is WMC still the only option? or is there any hacks etc we can do to run a different pvr for twc cable cards yet?

Silicondust just completed a Kickstarter for a DVR backend. Supposed to be available in the fall. It will support protected content on Windows.
