Running ROMs/Emulators from USB (R Pi2 / Kodi)
#1
Hi - I'm a newbie to both the RPi and Kodi, so apologies if I ask any stupid questions!

I've recently set up a Raspberry Pi 2 with Kodi/Openelec. I've been using this as a media player, but I'd also like to turn it into a retro console using the ROM collection browser addon.

All the tutorials I've found online for this so far only give instructions on how to do it on a PC. I am wondering, if I put a load of emulators and ROMs onto a USB stick and plugged that into my RPi2, would I be able to run them via the ROM collection browser in Kodi?

Thanks in advance!

I saw this but I couldn't seem to get it to work but then again, I was in a rush that day and didn't spend much time on it. http://misapuntesde.com/post.php?id=502

Also, if you have another spare µSD card then you could always grab the RetroPi.img and write it to the other card. The only downside is you have to switch cards. http://blog.petrockblock.com/retropie/

ETA: Almost forgot! There is also another version of OpenElec called RetroPlayer. It's a new player core for Kodi. It plays games instead of movies and music. But again, I saw that the other day when I was busy so I didn't read much on it yet.

someone wrote a script to run retropie off osmc and when you exit retro pi it goes back to osmc menu.

Thanks for the links - they're really helpful.

Thinking about it, I suppose my question boils down to: will ROM collection browser, installed on OpenELEC on a Raspberry Pi 2, be able to open and run .exe emulator files and ROMs from a USB drive plugged into the Pi?
