Hey guys
when attempting to switch from one profile to another the remote stops working.

I press the off button on the main screen then select log off my user the remote stops communicating with Kodi. Either I get up and manually select with the keyboard or the wife uses her phone to continue to navigate.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

This is a know issue in Kodi and afaik there's no simple solution.

You can try using HTTP in Kore (go to the media center settings and uncheck "Use TCP"), though i don't think it makes a difference in this scenario.
