WAV/AAC/MP3 Converter Tool
#1
Hi @ all,

this is my first post here... First of all I want to state that KODI is one of the best pieces of Software I've ever seen Cool

Just one question - is there any Addon which can be used for converting Audio Files into different formats? Or is this already "on board" and I haven't found it so far...

Would be a cool feature!

Thanks, Smertje

While I'm sure it's possible - ffmpeg will do all you need, and it's in Kodi's core - I don't see the appetite for this given that Kodi is a media *player*, not a *converter*, *editor* or anything along those lines.

What are you trying to do? I'm sure someone will know more and will e able to help. But, genuinely - ffmpeg/libav from the command line or with a GUI front end will likely meet your needs.

Thank you Prof Yaffle! ffmpeg looks like what I was looking for... What I want to do is converting an Audio file i.e. from mp3 to aac or vice versa.

I'm well aware that Kodi is a Media Player and should be seen as such. But as there are a lot of tools around I was wondering if there is a converter out there too. And yes, as I am not (so far) familiar with UNIX a GUI would be like Christmas ;-) But one should never stop to learn :-)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpegyag/

http://winff.org/html_new/

They both seem to be current and maintained. There are also older applications, e.g.

http://dmsimpleapps.blogspot.co.uk/2014/...erter.html

https://qwinff.github.io/ (docs show updates until 02/214, but the last git commit was 12 hours ago)

http://www.ubuntugeek.com/tragtor-gui-for-ffmpeg.html

Full disclosure: I just found these on Google, and have never used any of them. If I need to convert flac to MP3, or strip an AAC track out of an MP4 file, then I use command-line ffmpeg/avconv.

Happy hunting!
