Req Auto Shutdown on Live TV
#1
Hi all!

Hopefully this isn't a massive deal... It'd be great to have the option to shutdown our boxes if they've been left on. It's only really an issue when watching Live TV as of course that is broadcast 24/7. I always remember to stop the stream before I leave the box to idle but my partner and friends/family NEVER remember to do this, they only turn off the TV.

My TV and old satellite box would pop up with a prompt after a user-customisable length of time. It would prompt the user to cancel the auto shutdown or leave it to countdown for 30 seconds when it then puts itself into standby mode.

Hopefully I've explained this properly!

The normal auto shutdown works absolutely perfectly by the way!

How about using a shutdown timer?

Or try this addon:

Thanks sualfred. Unfortunately the shutdown timer won't really do much for my problem as they'd still have to set it - if they don't stop a simple stream then I can't imagine they'll remember to go and set a shutdown timer.

That addon looks good but I can't find much more information on it. Does it show a cancellation prompt before it shuts down?

EDIT: This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about! http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=154282

I wouldn't mind if it stopped the stream after the timeout or put the box in standby!

Never tried that addon, but a lot of kodinerds.de users use it exactly for that case. Just give it a try.

Was looking for similar functionality, as my live TV stream is often left running over night and with the timeshift functionality, it means it's constantly writing to disk... Just installed the above add-on, works great...

I'm having problems with the Sleepy Watchdog addon or at least i think i am, the functionality work fine, just what i need.. however, my Kodi instance is also on my backend and it's constantly on and i never exit from Kodi.

After 2 or 3 days i notice that Kodi is rather sluggish and any skin annimation is very very slow... as soon as i exit and restart Kodi the issue is resolved... until another 2-3 days... i've disabled this addon and i havent had the issue for 7 days now... just wondering if any one else is experianceing the same?

Edit: ignore me, got the same issue last night so it can't be this addon,,, back to the drawing board!
