XM on you Xbox!
#1
I discovered something really cool. I have searched everywhere and couldn't find anything like this, but if it’s out there I'm sorry. Here goes:

How to listen to XM on your Xbox (if you are an XM subscriber)

You need:
* Modded Xbox and a non-M$ dash (I like XBMC)
* Internet Connection
* XM radio subscription
* Windows Media Player (I have WMP11 not sure if it will work with others)
* WinAMP (I have v5.31 not sure if it will work with others)

1. Go to http://www.xmradio.com, click the listen now link and register. You will need your XM radio ID. You will pick a user name (your email address) and password then you will be able to listen to your XM stations online.

2. Go to http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile, enter the email address and password from you XM account and select high quality. On my system this auto launched windows media player.

3. Click file\properties (save playlist is not an option)

4. Copy the ENTIRE url from the location line as you username and password are somehow encrypted in here.

5. Open winamp then click file\playurl and paste the url you copied form Windows Media Player.

6. Go the the playlist editor there should be two entries. 1. Channel Name and 2. should be blank. Click on 2. then press delete on the keyboard.

7. Click file\save playlist. Name file and change file type to .pls.

8. Upload to Xbox and play.

I was able to stop and start this file several times and it worked, but after about 5 minutes the file would no longer play and I had to repeat steps 2 to 8and it would play again. The file however will play indefinitely if it’s not stopped after 5 minutes. Hopefully we can have the Xbox community jump on this and figure out a way to improve this process. There may be a more streamlined way of doing this, but this was my first attempt and I have not had the time to f**k around with perfecting it as of yet.

Update:

The website http://www.xstreamxm.com offers a free program called XstreamXM (go figure). It's a simple program that you can install on a pc to allow you to stream XM without your browser and all of its configuration files are written in XML. In the installation directory there is a dll file (plugin) that looks like it works with WMP. It may be possible to port this to play with XBMP. Just a thought.

Actually. There's a script to run XM over at XBMCScripts.
