Hey guys,
I know this isn't in the UK yet, but I wondered if there are any USB adapters for Sat TV?
I want to get rid of my SKY box, and just use free TV on the NVIDIA Shield Android TV.
I would like to use the Sat dish for signal if possible tho, as I dont want an aerial.
I saw some things online with the Shield and it had Live TV through Silicondust.
Are there any options for UK market that will work for me?
Basically I would like to use the Shield as my set top box playing free channels via Sat dish.
And being able to record shows to the 500gb drive would be a bonus too!

I have a Freenas server I guess I could use to run something if needs be.
But it wont be near the Satellite cables.
It can run software 24/7 if needs be.

Maybe FreeNAS will work, it's FreeBSD and not Linux so don't know.
Just google for "freenas AND tvheadend" and try to research it.
My tip would be to setup dedicated server based on Raspberry Pi 2

I could get a Pi2, not a problem.
But I would really like something that is all built in.
But then again I see what you are saying about NVIDIA needing to include the API in the kernals.
Is this not something that we can install over and above?
Are there any other DVB-S Usb options I could use?

A better option would be to get a SAT>IP tuner, then just run tvheadend either on your FreeNAS or directly on your SHIELD.

Interesting, can you advise any that would work nicely?
Also would I need to install anything extra on my dish or just screw something into the RF signals on the DVB-S connectors?

GSS.BOX 400 or something is pretty popular, they work with pretty much any LNB setup AFAIK. Drop by #hts on irc.freenode.net if you want to know more, lots of SAT>IP users there.

Cheers will look for it online.
So how would it work?
Is it a separate box that connects to the Sat cables, and then Ethernet for your network?
Then my Kodi box just has TVHeadEnd configure to connect to that IP for TV?

A wetek play would be cheaper than a gss.box I think and performs the same functions.
If you only wanted to use it as a tvserver you could install OpenELEC and disable kodi from running
I'm in the UK too and use the wetek for all my satellite tv viewing across 5 kodi clients; it works very well .

Have you tried getting a cheap Enigma2 box and setting up the Live TV PVR client in Kodi to stream it? I've done that with a ZGemma 2S and streamed on my laptop and it works, but not tried it on my tablet yet. The EPG populates too.
If I get chance tomorrow I'll set it up on my X4 android box and on my Asus Memopad.
