Win Use IR remote
#1
Hello,

I have Kodi on Windows and I made it to autostart at Windows startup.
I would like to use a IR remote to control Kodi. Is this possible by adding a IR receiver on my computer?
And how would this work? What kind of software etc.

Thanks in advance!

I read something about Kodi and the remotes using RF signals.
Or is it possible with an IR remote? I don't want to buy a separate remote, but only a receiver for my computer.

Get flirc. You can use any of your existing ir remotes to control kodi.

Thanks for the reply. Flirc sounds as a good way to achieve what I want.
Do I need to buy an official Flirc USB receiver? Or does it work with any IR receiver?

FLIRC is IR receiver. You can use any remote control like your tv or dvd remote with it.

So it's not just software? I really need an official Flirc USB receiver?

You need to buy the flirc usb dongle. Connect it to any pc and use the flirc software to configure it. After that it can be used in any device supporting a keyboard. The software is for configuring the dongle only. Once configured you don't need the software.
