TIODI, thank you for your wonderful post! I really appreciate it, it gave me the information I needed to get a project I've envisioned for a long time, finally off the ground.

I am getting quite close to releasing my solution and setup guide for a web-based TV Guide and IPTV recording setup. Funnily enough, like you I chose to use PHP to create the appropriate batch files from the guide.

Anyway, it needs a bit of tidy-up, and requires that the user installs XAMPP or similar on their own machine (and hence the machine should be left on 24/7). For me it is appropriate because my HTPC is always-on, but may not be appropriate for everyone.
