I know there a few similar threads on here, but I feel that due to the intermittent nature, mine is somewhat unique and I would appreciate any help where possible.
I recently had to reinstall Windows 10 on my laptop, and ever since I have been experiencing strange results trying to re-set up my Pi to stream files from my shared folders. My set up is quite basic, my laptop is on the Homegroup and I have a folder, and two sub folders, shared with All. I used to be able to add these folders as Video Sources via Videos/Add Videos/Browse/Windows network (SMB). However, when trying to do this I encounter various issues without changing on the laptop side. These have manifested as 'Error 2: share not found', 'Invalid Argument' and just not being able to browse to the correct folder (sometimes I cant even find the machine).
As a workaround I manually added in the path instead of browsing, but this has caused other issues. One of the subfolders (TV) has worked perfectly, the other (Movies) has varying degrees of success. Within the folder I have around 40/50 movies but Kodi only seems to be able to find the first 5/6 alphabetically as a maximum, sometimes as little as 1.
Both folders have identical permissions.
I have tried removing everything from the folder, cleaning the database and trying again. I have tried readding the source. Weirdly enough, I still get the 'Error 2: share not found' when I try to navigate to either folder via the Files view, despite being able to play files within those folders via the Movies/TV Shows libraries on the homepage.
I have also looked at some workarounds added in other threads with no success, including the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\size edit recommended on the Kodi wiki.
