I looks like something was corrupted in the addon xml files. Not sure why it occurred. To fix, you can uninstall the addon, delete the directory:
Code:
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.iarl/
and then re-install.

If you wanted to help me out (so I can fix this, because I can't reproduce), before you delete, is it possible to copy this directory from your box and put them in a dropbox or similar, so I can see what the files look like?
Code:
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.iarl/dat_files

I'm running 17.1 on Android. When I try to install the repo from the .zip, I get a bad zip error message and can't install the add-on. Is there a problem with the download link? Here is my log https://paste.ubuntu.com/24469723/

I dunno what the issue is there. That looks like the right file to me. Maybe there was an issue when you downloaded it. I just tried it and it works from my machine.

This is probably a stupid question, but I have recently put a libreelec test build on my raspberry pi 2. However, I can't work out how to configure the settings in IARL (which I love) with retroplayer. Anyone able to help?

I have the LE8 "Extended" community build on a RPi3. When I try to install this addon I get the error: "The dependency on os.libreelec.tv version 9.0 could not be satisfied"
What's this? Do I need Libreelec 9.0? Or does it think I have 9.0, but needs 8.0?

I use the same thing (on x86), so it should work. Could you provide a debug log?
There are a number of dependancies that should auto install with the addon, listed here, but os.libreelec.tv is not one of them. I don't know what that is.

A fresh install solved it. Thanks,

I can't get this working on Android.
Looked on Google and it seems many Android users are struggling to get this working.

I followed the wiki, but when I start any game it shows up the retroarch config page.

Any suggestions?

Provide a log, per the first post. Ensure you are pointing to the configuration file that Retroarch is using, per the wiki. When you get it working, provide me some feedback on updating the instructions to make it easier for everyone.

Appreciate your help.

The launch command that IARL is sending looks OK to me.
Code:
/system/bin/am start --user 0 -a android.intent.action.MAIN -c android.intent.category.LAUNCHER -e ROM "/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.iarl/temp_iarl/Aladdin (USA) (En,Fr,De,Es).gba" -e LIBRETRO /data/data/com.retroarch/cores/gpsp_libretro_android.so -e CONFIGFILE /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.retroarch/files/retroarch.cfg -e IME com.android.inputmethod.latin/.LatinIME -n com.retroarch/.browser.retroactivity.RetroActivityFuture

Ensure the config file set in Retroarch is set to the same thing IARL is pointing to, per the wiki
Code:
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.retroarch/files/retroarch.cfg
If all else fails, here are the general steps to find out where the launch command is being tripped up, or where your retroarch setup isn't complete.
