Blu-ray disc
#1
Hi,
I recently wrote a thred in Windows support about running blu-ray disks in kodi.
I got some helpful tips but now it hit me to try on a Linux os most for the booting time. I was thinking of kodibuntu.

The question is if there is a way to decrypt disc's in Linux.
On my windows pc I run AnyDVD but I hace not found it for Linux, thats wht I ask.

Any one know of a decryption program for Linux or if it dose not need it?

MakeMKV can be downloaded for free. Find it at makemkv.com. For the Linux version you will need to go to the Forums, find the MakeMKV for Linux thread and follow the instructions in the first post to download and build from source. This will give you a working MakeMKV installation that can rip discs. Optional instructions are included for building and installing libraries so that blu-ray discs will play natively from the Kodi Disc menu.

No plugin is needed in this scenario. However, it is a hack and will have to be maintained as such, at least for the time being.

Here is a step by step guide about how to download, compile and install makemkv:

This might be helpfull, too:

And for the note, unfortunately there is no AnyDVD for linux, as I told you in the other thread that most software is only available for windows.
