I could not show close caption in the recordings with wmc addon, although live TV does show the close caption, from version 15 beta 1 on, including the current RC2. Only alpha 1 can show close caption in both live TV and recordings. Did I forget some settings?

So it worked on alpha 1 but not on beta 1? I'm not sure of the settings but this wouldn't be anything from the addon side and sounds more like a Kodi issue

If you post a ServerWMC log we can confirm the subtitles are being sent to Kodi, then I think it's a matter of asking this question in the Kodi section, perhaps in this thread

Today, I did some digging again and found out that in Alpha 1 TV recordings, it is default to closed caption, but in rc2, I need to manually clicked NEXT to go to closed caption as the default is the 1-unknown. I need to manually changed it to 2-closed caption. It is sort of odd that on live TV you do not need to do that.

Live tv is very different than recorded files. In recorded files kodi is playing the wtv file directly, in live tv we have to remux this wtv data to ts format for streaming. It could be in the remux that the order (or default) caption stream is getting changed - hence it behaves differently. I really think you should submit one of these wtv files to the kodi team as a bug, telling them about the wrong captions being used in rc2.
