Hi,

I would love to have a "view only" option. Like "hotel mode" for tvs.

That is, the following functions are disabled when this mode is enabled:

Add-on Browser (Can run addons but cant install or remove and cant change any addon settings)
File manager
Profiles
Settings
Files (Ready Only - Can View But cant make any changes)
The ability to add or remove a source is disabled
Edit title / sort Title is disabled
"Remove from library" is disabled and dont ask to remove if video not found
View options are disabled - Other Wise Known As Kiosk mode
Add/Remove to/from Favorites
Mark/Unmark Watch/Unwatched

Mainly I would like to setup Kodi as I see fit and then lock it down so another user cant break anything on accident, like changing settings, removing sources, renaming stuff.

So they can only view (watch) what is made available and I don't have to worry about settings and files vanishing from the library.

Then enable master lock to protect my settings above.

that would be called kiosk mode, some skins support this.

I tried that. From all I can tell is that it disables the left sidebar, view options.

As I noted in post.

Asking for far more than just that. Thanks.

I know it's major. Just hoping I'm not alone. And perhaps someone is willing to start/or already working on something like this?

Thousands of hotel rooms actually run Kodi. There is no single button for what you want, but it is all possible. Start reading the wiki (wiki) for most of it.
