MXq S805

Looking at these Android boxes. One is all black, one has a orange stripe across the corner and a power button in the top middle. Which is newer? Which is better? Are either any good?

If the built in wifi sucks, can I plug in a USB wifi adapter?

I recently been looking into Firmware and Kodi Isengard RC operation on the AMlogic S805.
I have a $35 S805 ODROID-C1 with nearly complete Android Firmware that supports dynamic refresh rate switching and now 23.976/59.94Hz video output for perfect video sync. 1080p HEVC decoding is good too.
Kodi Isengard run very nicely now in Android on this device with the test Firmware I'm using.

There has been some very good work done recently too with an Unofficial OpenElec port on the S805 equipped MK808b Plus and MXQ by kszaq over here:

Have a look through the changes and bug busting that has occurred here as well to give you an idea of how cost effective these S805 devices have become for a 1080p HEVC media player:

Quote:Devices supported: (OpenElec)

MK808B Plus - reported to work on Tronsmart MK808B Plus and MK809 Plus
Nexteon-made MXQ (a.k.a. Beelink MXQ - with red "MX" on top)

Semi-supported devices (builds are working but I don't have the boxes to debug them):

HD18Q (a.k.a. all-black MXQ, OTT MXQ)
I will not support/build for any other device I don't have

I cannot comment on the Android Firmware and features support out of the box on these devices.

These is also a updated ODROID-C1+ being released that will have a few minor updates, details here:

These S805 devices are very good bang for the buck now that devs are releasing sorted Firmware to enable all the features these AMlogic SoC's have to offer.
